The magic of wallpaper

Wallpaper is art for your walls.  It is an opportunity to bring texture, pattern, and dimension to rooms big and small. Whether you use it on all four walls or as an accent, wallpaper is a great way to reimagine your space. In this blog, we will share our favorite ways to elevate your home through the use of wallpaper.

On the entire wall

The most traditional use of wallpaper is to cover all the walls in a space. When selecting a pattern, consider the scale of the room and what you want to accomplish. If it is a small space, lean in and choose a small-scale pattern with complimentary tones to create a sense of intimacy.

In a large room, consider a whimsical floral pattern that crawls up the wall to make the space feel endless and open. A mural is also a good option when working in a larger space. They broaden the eye and maximize the bounds of the room.

Just focus on half

Using wallpaper on either the top or the bottom half of a wall is a great way to get the look without overwhelming the space. Separate the papered and non-papered halves with a painted chair rail in a complimentary color or paneling. The beauty of using wallpaper on only half of the wall is that the different color combinations are truly endless and can be a unique way to add personalized interest to your room.

Create a Feature wall

You can create a feature wall by using art, mirrors, and, you guessed it, wallpaper. Feature walls are an opportunity to show off your style.  Perhaps you have art you love, or you want to create a cozy reading nook. Incorporate wallpaper into your room to define space and highlight the purpose and function of the area.

For example, try installing wallpaper on a wall behind a credenza, built-ins, or any other spot the eye is naturally drawn to.

Don’t forget to look up!

Gone are the days when ceilings are ignored. A wallpapered ceiling is a great and unexpected way to introduce pattern and texture into any room. We love the idea of a starry pattern across the ceiling of a nursery or a sitting room, drawing the eye up beyond the walls. You could continue the paper down the walls or simply paint the surrounding walls in a complementary color that accentuates the tones in the paper.
